Last night during Survivor and CSI I played in a Full Tilt $10+$1 tournament just to see how well I could do. I have been doing rather well in the SnG’s, or lucky as some players have said. By the time registration for the tournament had closed, there were 351 players in the tournament.

It has been quite a while since I played a MTT that was more than 18 players. I would usually make it to the first break and 30 minutes into the second hour I’d be out. This tournament, I managed to make it past the second break. I was never the chip leader, or close to it. I usually stayed a little above average, or below. The fisrt time I looked at the lobby window, there was around 150 people left. The next time I viewed the lobby, there was 56 people left. We were closing in on the blubble and I had less than 10xBB left.

I was in push for fold mode. I had been card dead for a while, so I really didn’t have a choice. Then I got a hand, pushed and got the blinds. Still in push or fold mode. A few orbits later, I check the lobby again and this time, there are 37 players left. 36 places pay. The next hand, I have another hand and push with one 3xBB raise in front of me from the UTG and he has me covered. Am I going to be the bubble boy?

Twenty seconds later, he folds. At another table, a player is kicked out and I made it into the bubble. In the danger zone, short stacked, but I made it past the bubble.

FTP $10+$1 Tournament FinishDuring the next orbit, I have A♣3♣ and push. I get one caller, who flips over AJo. I do not improve and I’m out in 34th. My hourly rate came to $6.72, but to me, that was not the point. I wanted to see how well I could do in a tournament. If I had the same goals for this tournament that I did for the WPBT Winter Classic, I would have met them all.

  • Top 20%: I placed in the top 10%.
  • Take two people out: I took out 3 players.

I wouldn’t say I did great, but I didn’t do so bad either. I’m pleased.
