Luckboxes.. How do you beat them?
Categories: Full Tilt, PokerSince I began my quest to turn $1.34 into $100, I have come across two luckboxes that seem to win no matter HOW FAR BEHIND they are. The only $1 tourney (45 player SnG) that I have played thus far, the chip leader was a total luckbox. I saw him come from behind no less than 5 times to bust players out. The bastard even got me, AT vs A4, when it rivered a straight against me.
Now tonight, another luckbox busted me in 3rd place. My 88 was no match to the mighty KQo. But, I’ll even let that one slide, two overs and floped even more outs. It doubled up through me when my QQ was no match for 77, when it flopped a set. I know that pre-flop I was only 95% to win, and those are the calls that you want to get. There’s a reason why it’s not 100%, but it still hurts. Took out #4 with the board and the other player with overs, took out #7 with a turned straight (called a raise with K6o pre flop) and took out 8 & 9 on the first hand, calling an all in with JJ. The skill, or lack thereof, that this player had was no match against the luckbox-factor.
The one time I set a trap, that I knew it would call… it folded. Two pair turned into a straight on the river, broadway no less, and it… folded? That was shocking.
But my question still stands, how do you beat a luckbox?
