I was lucky enough to get into the 1k LeTune Challenge I sponsored by the great folks at www.RakeBrain.com and had a really good run. I folded a couple too many times to Spaceman, because I don’t have poker balls and he knows this. But, to my credit, I spent most of the time in the top 7 of the tournament with a limit of 36 players. But this field was no cake walk, hard core poker bloggers were in it for the bounty on LeTune and the top 4 spots. With 7 players left, I had raise/folded my way down to last place, 7th, and i get pocket 77. I make a pot sized bet, when the BB pops it pot again. I called all in and he flips over 55! Yes! When this hand is over I will be in 4th! But then the flop kicks me in the junk, and my opponent hits his 5% and flops a 5. I go home 3 from the money. God damn, I can’t fucking win.
Now for the non results = money persona, besides the two bad laydowns to spaceman, I played a really good game. I swear that poker bloggers bring out the A game in me. Why can’t I bring my A game to the table all of the time and not just against the bloggers? I’m proud of the way I played and I hope that one day my A game will have a side effect of cashing.
Again, MUCH thanks to the fine folks at www.RakeBrain.com. It was a BLAST! Congrats to the final four in no order: bdiddie, pvanharibo, mookie99 and tnsspaceman!

It was good playing with you. Don’t be too hard on yourself! Maybe I can donate some chips back to you in December.

I know what you mean regarding playing up to the competition, as I too feel like I do a little better against bloggers than I do against the average MTT donkeys. If you get to the bottom of this, let me know.
Have a good weekend!

@Spaceman
The first hand that I made a bad laydown to you, you played perfectly. You took my TAG style and used it against me. And the side pot was huge. I just have a lot more to learn.
@RaisingCayne
PArt of me doesn’t want to look like a complete donkey in front of other poker bloggers because they will tell the tales of said donkieness throughout the land.. I do think it has more to do with I have met some/most of these fine folks and I don’t want to look like a total ass in front of them.

sure enough the 5 comes.. gah. sometimes it’s so hard to believe.. i got pounted QQQJJ to Q9spade,5hearts,Qdiamond,Jspade to K10spade for the straight flush. my opponent paid $67 at a cash game to chase the flush and sure enough my boat creates his straight flush!
sorry you didn’t finish better! sounds like you played well.
