This week, FT setup up the MFC as a double stack, so you get more bang for your buck (or more chips to donk.. how ever you look at it..) And as a reminder, win the MFC, you name the next tournament. I’m still thinking of a fitting bounty.. Maybe an entry to a freeroll tournament of people who kicked me out? Dunno..

On a side note, we did not have to evacuate last night, and it seems like most of the fuel for other fires are now gone, but all it will take is a shift in the wind, or another arson fire and all bets are off.

First off I would like to thank all of the players who took part in the inaugural MFC tournament: Host of The Mookie: mookie99, Host of Mondays at the Hoy: hoyazo, buddydank, stonesthroen, LaParka! It was a short handed SnG, but I think fun was had by all.

Highlights of the tournament include:

hoyazo bluffed stonesthroen with the hammer, TWICE

mookie bluffed LaParka off a hand with the hammer

LaParka took out BuddyDank when BuddyDank’s pocket 4’s failed to improve against LaParka’s pocket Q’s, to which BuddyDank proclaimed:
BuddyDank (Observer): but I WAS THE GILGI AT THE VERY FIRST MFG BABY!!!!

Gotta love that comment!

I made a donk call to laparka who turned a straight.

I got sent to the rail with ATh against LaParka’s TT and Stonesthroen’s 44. Oops. Most of the table felt that Laparka was holding the Hammer, great move to laparka.. representing the hammer by playing an inferior hand like TT..

Stones got sent to the rail against mookie99’s AK turned an ace and rivered an insulting K against stones QQ.

LaPArka busted hoyazo with his AQo vs JTd.

Mookie and Laparka get back to back to back hammers with each player with the hammer winning the pot! This tournament shold have been called Hammerpallooza!

The final hand Laparka holds AA vs Mookie99’s JJ, mookie flops an open ended straight draw, Laparka turns a set and Mookie rivers an Ace high straight to make history as the MFC: The Beginning Champion!

After the departure of Wil Wheaton’s Tuesday tournaments on PokerStars, there really hasn’t been a weekly tournament that has come in to fill the spot. Most of the weekly tournaments are difficult for me to enter at 6pm local time. If I leave work 5 minutes late, I miss the start of the tournament. That also means that my daily responsibilities (walk the dogs) doesn’t happen. To quote bdiddie:

I used to be a denizen of the Pacific Time Zone and bemoaned the number of tournies that started at 8 to 9:30 EST because I was never able to make it home from work in the 5 to 6:30 Pacific time slot necessary to play these.

Of course he is now in the poker gods chosen timezone so that is no longer an issue.. for him. For the rest of us, Starting in October, I have started the MFC weekly tournaments. Here are the details for The Beginning:
